What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal Fillers contain Hyaluronic acid, which is a natural substance present in all living organisms. This is injected into the skin to smooth out any facial lines or wrinkles and achieve facial rejuvenation.

How does it work?

Hyaluronic acid absorbs water and through that volumisation and skin rejuvenation is enhanced/achieved.

Do I need a skin test?

No animal product is involved accordingly it is very rarely allergenic so skin test is not needed.

What areas are commonly treated?

How are dermal filler injections performed?

Dermal filler is injected into the skin in small amounts, using a very fine needle.

Is it painful?

The filler used is already mixed with anaesthetic. Additional numbing cream is used if necessary to ensure the treatment is as pain free as possible.

How long will the treatment take?

The treatment can last between 20-30 minutes and the results are visible immediately.

Are there any side effects?

As Hyaluronic acid naturally occurs in the skin, side effects are minimal. Initial swelling or bruising may occur, however this should resolve within 24 - 48 hours. If lips are being treated, swelling may last longer.

How long do dermal fillers last?

Dermal Fillers last in the region of 6 - 12 months, but this is dependent on the individual and site administered.
